Here are some of my favourite shots from this roll. The film obviously wasn't black and white, but Digitalab told me that it had been cross-processed which explains the strange colours. A lot of the photos turned out quite shaky and blurred, I think I'm so used to digital cameras and their ability to take focused photos without the camera being held completely steady. I suppose a tripod would help but I'm too spontaneous and don't like to plan or set up my photos.

My favourites photos are definitely the ones above, taken on NYE when we were lighting fireworks and sparklers. I used the long exposure feature and must have shot each photo for 5-10 seconds. I'm really impressed with these, and love how bright they are! If anyone's interested in seeing more photos I've taken with my Diana Mini then I've uploaded some to my Flickr profile.
In other news, I'm SO excited to be going to the NME Awards Tour tonight to see Magnetic Man, Crystal Castles, The Vaccines and Everything Everything. I was supposed to see Magnetic Man (supporting Deadmau5) in December but it got cancelled because of the snow so I've been waiting a while for this! I'm really looking forward to seeing Crystal Castles again too, Alice goes absolutely crazy when performing - although I don't think I actually saw her on stage last time because of the amount of strobe lights!
The photos came out great! the sparkler ones are lovely.
ReplyDeleteCrystal Castles came in Topshop when I worked there and the guy wanted to try things on in the girls fitting room and I told him to shove off haha.
Have fun tonight The Vaccines and Everything Everything are amazing x
That's so funny about the guy from Crystal Castles. I wonder why he wanted to use the female fitting rooms? Or was he just being a twat? I'm looking forward to Vaccines and Everything Everything too, but CC and Magnetic Man are going to be my highlights! ;) xx
ReplyDeleteWow, these photos are amazing. I love them.
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing time tonight!
I love Crystal Castles it's so exciting seeing them live!
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos :D
I love these firework photos! Glad you finally managed to get them developed :)
ReplyDeleteThat gig sounds so good D: Have fun!

The firework/sparkler photos are fantastic, I did some hearts last year for Valentines Day with sparklers although they don't look as good as yours! :)
ReplyDeletex
Thank you Alison! :) x
ReplyDeleteIngrid, the songs sound completely different live because Alice is jumping around too much but it's such an experience! ♥ x
Alex - I'm so glad I got them developed too. It was so annoying wondering what they were going to look like and if anyone would be able to develop them! x
Sophie - Thank you! I tried to do hearts but those ones didn't turn out as good. x
These are lovely photos, although it sounds as though you've had quite a job trying to get them developed! xx
ReplyDeleteLove the firework pictures! Vey jealous about Magnetic man, I saw them at Leeds fest last year and they were great! Have fun :) xx
ReplyDeleteWow very jealous of seeing Everything Everything. I am just getting into photography and have a firework feature on my new camera, desperate to try it out, those photos look awesome! x

i've been aching for a diana/lomo/holga for ages. are they worth it? i know they're all cheap but the things it seems you've been through JUST for the film hah! <3
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Please tell me I've just found somewhere to develop my 120mm colour shot in my full sized Diana!
ReplyDeleteThe fireworks ones are awesome, fireworks photos are really difficult to get right so you did an amazing job, they're brilliant!
ReplyDeleteWas the film slide film? If so it can be processed as a normal 35mm film in any photo lab but a lot of them won't do it because it messes up the chemicals in the machines. That's what cross processing is, although it doesn't look to me like they've been cross processed. I used to work in the photo lab in Jessops so if you get any more problems you can always drop me a line if you like.

aw these are lovely. i actually love the 4th one BECAUSE it's out of focus, i dunno i just think it's beautiful xo
ReplyDeletegreat photos - i'm currently waiting to get my first film back from processing and i can't wait!
ReplyDeletei love the NYE ones :)
Great photos! It's a shame that common photograph printers can't print those types of films.
ReplyDeleteZoet - I had a lot of hassle, usually it's really easy to develop them but this film was being awkward! x
ReplyDeleteDan - This was my first time seeing them but they were AMAZING! x
Charlotte - Everything Everything were brilliant, they done a really short set though. Let me see your fireworks pictures if you take any :) x
Kat - I'd say it's definitely worth it! I've taken quite a few rolls and this is the first one that I've had problems with. I suspect it's just because I took it to Tesco and not a 'professional' photolab who know about these things. Don't let my post put you off! x
Rachel - I think you might have, yes :D Digitalab are great, and so helpful. I post my films away and they're really quick!
Rosie - Thank you :D I doubt I'd be able to do anything like those firework ones using a digital camera either! I don't think it's a slide film, no. I've used a few slide films before but as far as I know this was just a normal 35mm film. Strange! x
Klee - I really like the out of focus one too! It wasn't how I imagined it would turn out when I took the pic but I do like the blurryness and washed out colours :) x
Chelsea - Thank you! I look forward to seeing your photos if you blog them x
Cherry - Usually they can print them no problem, it was just this 1 roll for some reason! x
The sparkler photos are beautiful! I love the colours in the first lot too xx
ReplyDeleteLove the blog! The background, the domo nail, alll the cuteness :) Keep it up! www.icecreamandpizza.com
ReplyDeleteI used a diana mini before, but it soon broke down. Haiz. :(

Wow these came out amazingly well! Really love the fireworks/sparklers ones! I usually take my films to Snappy Snaps who are a bit expensive but know what they're doing (most of the time). I hear Boots and Asda can do it quite cheaply too..xx
