So annoyed with Barry M nail polishes at the moment - both my Berry Ice Cream and Mint Green have went all gloopy and stringy, making it near impossible to get a neat application. Doing polka dots with a stringy nail polish made such a mess but I used a kirby grip, as recomended in this post by Gem Fatale, and they're neater than my usual effort.
I'm really liking this nail art. I wanted something related to Spring/Easter and think this is perfect. I might go over the polka dots with pink later as they're a little too subtle in real life. I've also got some ideas for easter eggs (although it might be too similar to aztec nails which I'm not very good at) and some cute little chicks.
I saw these amazing cosmic nails on Tumblr last week and they are SO GOOD. I don't think I have the right colours but I'm going to try and re-create it at some point.
I really love these! Especially the polka dot ones, lovely choice of colours. I agree with the Barry M though - But I can't break away because they're so cheap and the colours are amazing! I think I got the violet one for my birthday, and I have the green one!! Am going to try this!!
ReplyDeleteHow are you making your little dots? I'm sure I've seen a million blog posts on it but I can't remember a single one saying what was best to use. *strains*

I feel the same but I own most of their colours anyway so might move on to Models Own as they're much better quality. Send me a pic of yours once you've done it! :)
ReplyDeleteI was going to include a link in the post about the polka dots but completely forgot! I used a kirby grip, as recomended by GemFatale. x
The cosmic nails are amazing, how the heck do they do it?
ReplyDeleteI love your idea here heehee! I agree with Barry M, though I find it with most of my polishes.... if you use one a bit often they go gloopy so quick! I have NEVER reached the bottom of a nail varnish bottle for this reason haha - I don't think it's possible!

Oh lord these are cute! I was thinking of brigtening up my nails seeing as I have plenty of time off work after tonight, I might try out some bunnies :D
ReplyDeleteAnd those cosmic nails are gorgeous, I wouldn't know where to begin creating something like that.

Love the easter theme!! So cute. I'm into nail art to and love aztec designs. You can get some cheap polish pens on ebay that make it really easy. x
ReplyDeleteThis is the cutest thing i have ever seen x
ReplyDeleteThis is the cutest thing ever! Definitely might have to give this a go sometime :D
ReplyDeleteRhiannon xx
these are soo ridiculously cute !! i love them and they make me smile.. i wish i was nail talented ! !
ReplyDeleteThese are just lovely! :) I'm impressed that you manage to paint such a detailed design on both hands, I can do my left hand fine but when it comes to the right I always mess it up!
ReplyDeleteKeeping nail polish in the fridge stops them going gloopy! Although I don't think my Mum would appreciate me taking up even more fridge space with nail varnish...but maybe when I move out.
ReplyDeleteArghh that's so AMAZING!!!
ReplyDeleteI can barely paint my nails with 1 colour never mind nail art!
So impressed with all your nail efforts - I thought your Aztec nails were great personally.
Much Love

Mozzypop - I have no idea how they done it, I can imagine it taking a long time! It's worth a try to copy it though :) I've never reached the bottom of a Barry M nail varnish either.. except the top coat! I wonder if it's the metal balls that keep it in good condition? I've never noticed it in the colours.. x
ReplyDeleteFiona - Thank you! I'd love to see your nails if you do try it :) x
Mo - I've got a black and a white nail polish pen but still struggled. I'm too much of a perfectionist! x
Frilly-lace-knickers - Thank you lovely :) x
Rhiannon - Thank you, definitely try it! It's quite easy x
Char - Aww thank you! There was once a time when I was RUBBISH at nail art, practice makes almost-perfect! x
Faye - I'm left handed but I actually find painting my left hand easier sometimes, very strange! x
Helen - Ooh, that's interesting! I have far too many nail polishes to store them all in the fridge (think I'd need to buy a separate fridge!) but I might pop a few of my favourite Barry M's in there x
Roisin - Aww thank you, the aztec nails weren't the worst thing ever but they just weren't what I was hoping for! x

ReplyDeleteAwhhh these are really really cute! I think you've done a great job, gloopy varnishes or not :) I tried to polka dot thing with kirby grip recently too and was so pleased with how mine looked! R x
ReplyDeleteSo weird, I was just about to start painting bunnies on my nails just after I'd caught up with all the blogs I'm following! How annoying that your polishes have gone gloopy, really hope mine don't do that!

This looks so cute! I love the design! :D xx
ReplyDeleteThat is too cute! xx
ReplyDeleteIf you put a few really tiny drops of nail varnish remover in the varnishes it should make them less gloopy, it thins them slightly but does make an improvement! Also putting them in the fridge helps too :)
ReplyDeleteoh girls got skills! these are gorgeous honey x
ReplyDeleteyou've done such a great job, I couldn't do anything half as good :)

Happy Easter!
Hi, just wanted to let you know that i awarded you with the Kreativ Blogger award check it out on my blog :)
ReplyDeleteto get rid of gloopy nail polish, pop a drop of nail polish remover in the bottle and shake for about 30 seconds - works like a treat!! it's a shame for a nice colour to go to waste after all x
ReplyDeleteYou have the cutest nail art designs!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!
ReplyDeleteadd a couple of drops of nail varnish remover and give the bottle a good shake! That's how I've got my fav barry M to last an age! Nothing worse than having to chuck out a half full bottle of nail varnish cause it's gone sticky.
