Lush currently sell their lip scrubs in three different flavours - Mint Julips, Bubblegum and Sweet Lips. These sugar scrubs are super easy to make at home yourself, but it was the lovely scent that convinced me that I had to buy them from Lush!
The first lip scrub I bought was Bubblegum and there was a very good reason for it. It smells of Snow Fairy. You know that familiar candy pink, sweet, bubblegum smell? Well this delivers it. And what's better is that you can EAT IT. Yes, really! I also own Lip Dip (I got it in a Christmas gift box and I think it might only be available around Christmas time) which is a delicious lemon sherbert flavour and slightly more moisturising than exfoliating than Bubblegum is.
These sugar scrubs are simple to use, just rub them over your lips and the grainy sugar works as an exfoliator and instantly makes your lips nice and soft. I have really dry lips that I'm constantly biting (one of my bad habits!) which causes them to chap even more but when I use a sugar scrub they always feel really nice and soft. The product definitely works. It's a quick fix and it's also great for using before applying lipstick too because it creates a nice soft base to apply your lipstick on and, unlike other lip products, doesn't take a while to sink in before being able to apply lipstick over the top. Simply apply, leave for a minute, lick off (yum!) and voila... kissable lips!
However, there is a downside to this product. I tend to only use mine in the morning as I put my make up on, and again just before bed… The reason for this is because when applied it's not as invisible as a lip balm is and instead you're left with lots of little sugar grains all over your lips. These won't last for long (if you're anything like me you'll lick it off in no time!) but it's a bit inconvenient to apply in a public place and I'm always scared incase I end up walking around with a sugar coated mouth!
Despite this, I still really like the product. I don't think I would have actually bought it if it wasn't for the Snow Fairy scent, so when you combine the above point about not being wearable in public and the price tag of £4.95 it might not be suited to everyone. However if you're looking for something to make your lips instantly soft and don't apply lip balms in public often (or just don't mind having sugary lips) then this is worth trying. The pot lasts a long time too - after 6 months I'm not even half way through it!
They sound great!! Would be perfect for me, I always get dry, chapped lips!!!

ReplyDeletebubblegum is just the nicest thing ever, it just SMELLS SO GOOD. but I know what you mean about the sugary lips, it's like eating a doughnut and not being able to lick it off hahah!

The Body Shop used to do a thing called "Lip Scuff" which was similar, and I've been looking for a replacement ever since they discontinued it - or at least stopped stocking it in my branch. Will have to check these out.
ReplyDeleteI usually love Lush products but I wasn't a fan on these, I found them a little too thick for me :( they are such a good idea though!
ReplyDeleteThe quality of these photos makes the lip scrubs look amazing! I love any kind of scrub/exfoliant, so I might give these a try. Great review :)
