I bought this product after falling in love with the smell of it when it was used in the facial I was treated to at Pure Spa last month. It retails at £28 which is much more than I'd usually pay for a skincare product but my skin was looking and feeling amazing after my facial so I thought I'd give it a try.
Unlike the name suggests, the Papaya Enzyme Peel doesn't peel. It's a creamy product which dries in to your skin very quickly making it easy to continue getting dressed whilst waiting for it to work on your skin. After 10-15 minutes the product is barely visible on skin and is rinsed off with warm water to leave your skin feeling noticeably smoother. I use this every 2nd day and always find that my make up applies much nicer afterwards.
When I had my skin consultation at Pure Spa, I was told that my dry skin problem might be due to the fact that I didn't exfoliate as part of my skincare routine. The reason I don't like to use exfoliating products is because my skin is very sensitive and I suffer from redness which using an exfoliator only makes worse. This product was recommend to me because it is an exfoliator, it just doesn't have a grainy consistency at all. Don't ask me how that works, because I'm not quite sure, but it does! There has been a huge improvement in the condition of my skin since I started using this last month - it's glowing!
It also smells amazing and makes me wish there was a scratch and sniff feature so that you could all smell it. It's very fruity and tropical and the smell is left on your face all day long.
At £28 it is an expensive product but I've never used anything quite as good as it before. You only need a tiny amount so it will last for a long time but I would definitely consider purchasing this again... even for the smell alone! It's definitely made me want to try some more Elemis products too.
Yeah, I'm starting to think the same about needing to invest in good skin. You should definitely get it, it's brilliant! After using it I can't help touching my face to feel how lovely and soft it is. :) x
ReplyDeleteOh it's great! That and a Murad moisturiser I was using are miracle cures for dry skin but the moisturiser is £50 so erm, I won't be buying it! :( x
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that's what this one does! It's MAGIC. Amazing though! I still need to look into the sk:n moisturiser x
ReplyDeleteI know, it's quite steep isn't it? You might be able to find some little sample sizes on eBay? x
ReplyDeleteI don't understand it either but it does work! Definitely try it if you can, it's lovely. :) x
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't believe how dry my skin gets, especially on my nose, and this sorts it out for me! Love it! :) x
ReplyDeleteAre you just going to posh hotels? ;) Haha! I'd always thought they were quite a mature brand and they reminded me of old ladies for some reason?! Or maybe I'm getting confused.. But I'm a fan now! x
ReplyDeleteI love it! After my facial the girl asked if I had any questions and I just had to ask what the product was that smelt all fruity! HAHA! Nice to know I'm not alone! Quite like my Lush cleanser but will definitely have a look into this one. x
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely say it was worth it. I still can't believe I paid £28 almost purely based on the fact that it smelled nice! ;) x
ReplyDeleteYep, it's brilliant! I had no idea exfoliators without the grainy texture existed :) x
ReplyDeleteooooOooh, sounds good, though I've never understood the non-exfoliating exfoliating creams, I have a moisturiser like it and it freaks me out!! Would love to try this stuff, I've only ever tried Elemis lip balm but LOVED that!! x
ReplyDeleteI have terrible dry skin so this sounds like heaven right now! Might have to pop it on my Christmas list for haha :P

ReplyDelete£28 sounds like a lot but I'm learning more and more that it's worth it to invest in good skin for now and for the future and this does sound like a lovely product that might just go on my christmas list!

I totally think its worth it. I use a sk:n one which is the same, doesnt have beads but apparently the chemicals just melt the dead skin, however, it makes my skin look amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great, I'd love to try it if it wasn't for the price!
ReplyDeleteOoh that sounds awesome. Although I have oily skin so moisturising is definitely not what I need! Elemis really confuses me because it's always in hotel rooms and it's meant to be a high end brand.. I just collect the little bottles. Mweheh I'm so sad. It does sound rather luxurious!

ReplyDeleteSounds like you have similar skin to me and I'm a total skincare junkie so will have to check this out (maybe after Xmas when I have more money! haha) xxx
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're enjoying it, totally agree about the smell! I may be known to go and secretly sniff it during working hours...ahem. If you're interested in other Elemis products i'd 100% reccomend the pro-radiance cream cleanser. It's like Liz Earl C+P but thicker. Dissolves all your make up easy peasy and leaves your skin really hydrated and plumped up. Your skin sounds really similar to mine and it's worked wonders on me! x

ReplyDeleteGreat review. I'd definitely go for this product, this papaya name sucks me in, because I love the smell of papaya. Even though this product is pricey, if you only need a little amount for an effective use, then it seems to be well worth it.
