ready to glo

As much as I love being pale, when the sun makes an appearance I can't help but feel the need to have a subtle glow on my skin. I've tried a lot of tanning products in the past and I've had my fair share of streaky messes, orange patches, dark elbows and knees. I hate the smell too, and always feel that the tans I've been using are too orange for my complexion, even applied lightly using the lightest shade. Gradual tanners work best for me, but even those can be too orange.

Last month I went to an event at the Scottish Academy of Make-up and was introduced to Wow Brown Tan, which was created in Ireland with us pale girls in mind. I found out that most fake tans on the market are developed for olive skin tones, which is why they often give that mucky orange colour. Apparently Wow Brown would be perfect for pale skinned girls like me to achieve a subtle tan... and I was sold. I was given a bottle of their Ready To Glo tanning liquid and couldn't wait to try it!

Wow Brown Ready to Glo is a liquid tan in a spray bottle. I spritzed it directly on to my skin and rubbed in circular motions with a tanning mit. Although the liquid is a scary black colour, the tan went on easily with minimal blending required (if I'm honest I just slapped it on without really caring!) and not one streak in sight. It gives me colour instantly, and it's the most natural looking tan I've ever had. I looked sun-kissed without having that fake tan look. You could still tell I was pale, and despite being an instant tan it doesn't streak and run when it comes into contact with water - I'm looking at you Sun Shimmer!

It did have a very slight biscuit-y smell like most fake tans do, although I've smelled worse! One thin layer of this is enough for me to achieve my ideal glow, although I've experimented a little, and whilst it's not something I'd do myself, it's easily buildable to create a darker tan which looks just as natural. Ready to Glow lasts about 4 days on my skin. I'm also really lazy with moisturising and 'taking care' of my tan, but I'm happy to say that it wore off well and I had no patcyness or scaly parts.

This is hands down the best tanning product I've ever used. I can see myself getting around 10 uses from this single bottle, and it's definitely something I would re-buy. If you fake tan on a regular basis this might end up being quite an expensive product at £18.95 for 100ml but I find it perfect for a quick fix for nights out or for when the sun makes a surprise appearance!
