Let me just start this review by saying I have never in my life tried a product that makes such a difference to my skin in so little time. When people refer to this as an 'overnight facial' they're not exaggerating - it literally transforms my skin overnight.
Alpha-H Liquid Gold is a lotion based chemical exfoliant designed for overnight use, containing a mixture of 5% glycolic acid and licorice extract which claims to tighten enlarged pores, jump-start the skins metabolism and deliver clearer, lighter and more even skin tone. You apply it by simply soaking a cotton wool pad and sweeping it across your face.
Despite being suitable for all skin types, I was quite nervous about using Liquid Gold on my skin as the product does smell quite acidic, and I wasn't sure it would be beneficial for my very dry skin. I couldn't have been more wrong! The first time I used Liquid Gold my skin tingled for a few minutes before feeling really plump and smooth. I went to bed and woke up in the morning with dewy baby soft skin, despite not moisturising the night before. Even my stubborn dry patches felt moisturised - something even my moisturiser doesn't always achieve.
I've been using this for almost a month now, applying it on alternative nights as directed and I've noticed a huge improvement in my skin. I suffer from red patchy skin and it has made such a difference and has evened out my skin tone aswell as reducing the size of my pores and clearing up any blackheads. I'm still suffering from the occasional breakout but spots are healing quicker and the red marks they leave are gone within 1 or 2 uses.
I find that using this product is quite addictive because of the way it leaves my skin feeling. I definitely feel much fresher the morning after using Liquid Gold but I'm trying to stick to the recommended usage and only use it on alternative nights as it might be too harsh on skin and strip it too much. When using a chemical exfoliant you also have to be quite careful and wear an SPF on your skin, even in cloudy weather, as they can make your skin more susceptible to sun damage.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is unhappy with their skin. Infact, I can't recommend it enough. It is quite expensive, coming in at around £25 for 100ml although this will last you a long time. It's definitely something I will be re-purchasing again and again. I lucked out and found my 50ml bottle on eBay for £7 so make sure you check there too!
I need to try this! Searching ebay as we speak!

I really want to try this! I have really sensitive skin though and keep being out off trying it, but I'll give anything that calms the redness in my skin down a go at least once.
ReplyDeleteMy skin is a little sensitive and it has been fine, I'd definitely recommend it and from the reviews I've read it's good on most skin types. It definitely improved my redness so much, I'm actually considering leaving the house some days without foundation which I've never felt able to do! x

I've stopped using it at the moment though, its a bit of a funny one when you're wanting to use fake tan too, haha - This would just take it straight off and I already have brown-body-white-face syndrome! Hi
ReplyDeleteI agree it completley transforms the skin especially when used in conjuction with the day and night repair serums (ie using the night serum on alternative nights to the liquid gold treatment).
I have combination/sensitive/dry skin so quite a mixture and found this to be an amazing product if used in the correct way; overusing will just make your skin dry red and overall irritated.
I have to disagree with one comment however- I do not think that whatsoever it smells "acidic" meerly fresh and does not leave an acidic smell to the skin. I have used it with and without moisturiser and have found both effective. You were indeed lucky to get the item for £7 but there are many fakes around on ebay that use strong solutions that are misleading which is maybe why you had the strange acidic fragrance from it?
For best results I would use with the night serum as a definate and perhaps the day serum. I use all three and love these products. I used to suffer from hyperpigmentation and occasional blemishes which left scars- not any more.
Its changed my whole skincare regime!
I would recommend this to any skin type.
just wondering, do you use it as a toner or do you put it on after toner?
