A few weeks ago, I was invited along for lunch and a mooch around the Merchant City Craft & Design fair in Glasgow. I've been to various markets around Glasgow before, but somehow this one had slipped under my radar - despite being held every Sunday! For those of you not so familiar with Glasgow, Merchant square is a trendy hub of restaurants and bars under one roof, with a lovely cobbled courtyard. It's the perfect place to enjoy a coffee, lunch, or a cheeky cocktail or two whilst people watching and is just a stones throw away from the city centre.
We were treated to lunch at Metropolitan, where I indulged in a big stack of nachos, before tucking into one of the nicest plates of fish and chips (those chips...!) I've had in a while, coupled with a few glasses of wine.
Afterwards we had a walk around the market which I couldn't help but notice was very diverse, but had a really nice Scottish vibe to it. The sellers were all so friendly and happy to spend time chatting away to us. Some of my favourite stalls included Kirsty Fraser's beautiful range of jewellery (that honeycomb necklace will be mine, just as soon as I decide on which colour!), Twa Burds Soaps which sold delicious handmade soaps and bath products (eat your heart out Lush - their Cherry Bakewell bath salt is my new favourite bathtime treat!) and last but not least, the beautifully intricate paper cuttings and accessories from Shindigg!
Now that I know about it, the fair is something I'll be visiting more often, especially around Christmas to pick up some gifts for friends and family and maybe a sneaky cupcake or two for myself! The fair is open 11am until 6pm every Saturday and 12pm until 6pm on Sundays. Entry is free too!
Those honeycomb necklaces are really pretty, looks like the fair was a really cool place :) xoxo
